Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission officially released the Notification to recruit 100 Forest Section Officer in A.P. Forest Subordinate Service  for the year 2025 on 22nd July 2025. Online applications will start from 28th July,2025 onwards. APPSC Forest Section Officer exam is conducted in 3 stages Preliminary, Mains and Computer Proficiency Test. Pay Scale:

  • For Forest Section Officer Scale of Pay: Rs.32,670 – 1,01,970 (Approximate In Hand Salary: 50,000 PM)

Age Limit (As on 01-07-2025):

Age limit for APPSC Forest Section Officer: 18 to 30  Years 

Permissible relaxation in upper age limit for different categories in accordance with extant Rules/ guidelines of Government of India are as under:

  • SC/ ST/BC/EWS: 5 years
  • SC/ST Carry Forward Vacancy: 10 Years

*Note: The SC/ST Candidates who availed 10 years of age relaxation are not eligible for SC/ST fresh vacancies.

Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Botany or Forestry or Horticulture or Zoology or Physics or Chemistry or Mathematics or Statistics or Geology or Agriculture as a subject or a Bachelor’s degree In Engineering with Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering of any University of India, established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, State Act or Provincial Act or an Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission or an equivalent qualification.

Preliminary Examination:

APPSC Forest Section Officer Prelims exam contains one paper ( Part A (General Studies & Mental Ability ) and Part B (General Science and General Mathematics) consisting of objective in nature .There will be 150 questions in the Paper-I.

APPSC Forest Section Officer Mains examination contains 3 papers consisting of Essay paper which is in descriptive nature and the remaining two will be objective type Paper-I (General Studies & Mental Ability) and Paper-II ( General Science and General Mathematics) Paper-I and Paper-II are considered for making the final merit. The marks scored in the APPSC Forest Section Officer Mains Exam  will be counted in preparing the merit list for final selection.

Note:

Candidates are required to undergo a walking test and also a Medical Examination (conducted by a Medical Board). Both the tests shall be arranged by the Forest Department, duly taking concurrence of A.P.P.S.C. For this purpose, the Commission will pick up eligible candidates in the ratio of 1:2 with reference to total number of vacancies as per General Rule 22 & 22A.

Physical Measurements Test (PMT):

For Physical Requirement and Test See Below 

i) No person shall be eligible for appointment by direct recruitment to the post of FSO in the service, unless he is not less than 163 Cms in height not less than 84 Cms round the chest on full inspiration and has a chest expansion of not less than 5 Cms on full inspiration.
ii) In case of women candidates, they must not be less than 150 Cms in height, not less than 79 Cms round the chest on full inspiration and a chest expansion of not less than 5 Cms on full inspiration.
iii) Provided the minimum height is relaxable by 5 Cms, in the case of the candidates who belong to Gurkhas, Nepalese, Assamese, NAFA, Naga, Manipur, Gauhati, Kummoni, Sikkimese, Bhutanese and Scheduled Tribes.
iv) Provided further that in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes, where the reserved quota cannot be fully utilized for want of sufficient number of candidates possessing the requisite physical qualifications, the physical standards shall not be less than 158 Cms in height and not less than 78.8 Cms Round the chest on full inspiration with a minimum expansion of 5 Cms.

v) The candidate should possess normal eyesight apart from the physical requirements prescribed above.
vi) The eligible candidates selected in written test shall be subjected to the test of walking. In case of Male candidates, a distance of 25 Kms walking is to be completed in 4 hours duration. In case of Women candidates, a distance of 16 Kms is to be completed in 4 hours duration.
Note 1: The walking test is only a Physical endurance test and shall not carry any marks. It is treated as a qualifying test.
Note 2: Candidates will be shortlisted at 1:2 ratio for conducting physical test (walking test) by competent Institutions/Authorities in presence of official of APPSC as per G.O.Ms.No.09, EFS&T (SEC.V) Dept., Dt: 28.01.2019.
vii) For qualified candidates, weightage shall be given to the NCC certificate holders having requisite qualifications, Physical measurements at the time of selection, as follows:
NCC-“C” Certificate holder – 5 bonus marks.
NCC-“B” Certificate holder – 3 bonus marks.
NCC-“A” Certificate holder – 1 bonus mark.
The final selection shall be done from among the persons who have qualified in Physical Tests (walking test and Medical examination) and CPT based on the marks secured in written examination duly observing roster points and the bonus marks wherever applicable.
N.B: Common for Men and Women: Must undergo a Medical Examination to be conducted by the Medical Board at Rajamahendravaram and produce a health certificate signed by the Medical Board in the form prescribed by Article 49 of the Civil Service Regulation testifying to the candidates sound hearing and general physical fitness for outdoor work in the Forest Department and to the fact that he/she bears on his/her body marks of successful vaccination.
Note:
1. Candidates must obtain physical measurement certificate issued by Medical Officer not below the rank of Civil Assistant Surgeon, which will be furnished to the Commission at appropriate time.
2. Based on merit in Main written examination, those who are qualified in Walking Test and Medical Examination, the candidates will be shortlisted for Computer Proficiency Test.
